Feral Cat Problem.

There are feral cats in my backyard. I think there's around 20.

I'm feeding them because they are starving.

I don't know what to do. I don't want them to be put down in a shelter. I
think it's inhumane. :main_thumbsdown:

I caught some of the kittens and found them homes.

Does anyone know of any Trap-Fix-Release programs?

Not sure where you are but there are trap-fix-release programs in many areas. I worked with one in central TX. I also worked for a vet in NJ that worked with a non-profit. You can call around to cat rescue groups or to vets to see if one will work with you. Male cat neuters are one of the easiest surgeries vets perform (some vets even have their technicians do them). They may help you by doing them at cost - $25-50 per cat if you can trap them and bring them in.

I hate to sound harsh but probably feeding them is part of the reason you have such a large problem. Feeding allows more cats than the environment can support to survive and gives them the extra energy they need to reproduce. If they keep increasing in population or the food source shrinks they do starve. Sad but that's nature at work

IMO save the kittens if you can but for the adults, being put down in a shelter is much more humane than starving to death, dying from fight wounds, or dying from some disease that can spread quickly through an undernourished and crowded population.

We have one where I live. You need to call your city hall and ask.

I live in West Covina, located in California.

Just call your local shelter and ask, they would know. You wont get the help you need here.
Be careful if you let any of these cats around your home, if you have cats of your own.
Many feral cats can be infected with HIV and other contagious diseases, that could be very harmful to your pets.

I know there is a Feral Cat Coalition in San Diego. I want to say they also have one in LA? Try that in google and see what you come up with.

I hope you get everything resolved! I just wanted to say I think that you trying to help them is amazing! There need to be more people like that in the world. My advice is just what everyone else has said there are tons of numbers I am sure you will find something! It breaks my heart to see cats and pets with no homes alone on the streets
