I wouldn't feed him any one thing, alone. A variety is better. You can try giving them microwaved/steamed spinach, zucchini, and most other types of vegetation. I used to feed my bristlenose plecostomuses a variety of things, but remove them before they rot.

Most plecos are omnivores, and need fresh fish in their diet. I would avoid microwaving or steaming anything.
You can buy fish fillets at the grocery store, or silversides at your local fish store.
As they age they tend to stear away from vegetable matter.

Save on wafers.
A SLICE OF CUCUMBER............
He'll suck it day and night.
And you'll see nice results.
Take care. HJ

cucumber is a nice treat but with little nutritional value. Many plecos at this side need less vegetation and more meat in their diet.

PLECO TREAT FOOD PLUS+++++++

I Agree Katie...
My comment on cucumber was only meant as a replacement
for all the algea wafers said to being used...........

Some added info on cucumber values are :
Good source of potassium.
They contains ß-carotene and α-carotene, vitamin-C, vitamin-A, zea-xanthin and lutein. These compounds help act as protective scavengers that play a role in aging and various disease processes.
They have a high amount of vitamin K, Vitamin-K has been found to have a role in bone strength by promoting bone mass building activity.

A healthy homemade meat product can be made with
a baby food meat product.
Many years now since I raised Beta's, Cory Cats, and Fancy Pleco's
but the home made meat product went well.
A cooking receipt is required to eliminate water pollution
but instruction fails me at this time.
Take care. HJ
