I've had this little one for about a month. This is the tank set up as it came from the previous owners. (Except for the yogurt container wet hide and black calcium dish.) This tank is way smaller than I'd like it to be. I'll hopefully be picking up a bigger one soon.
Alright, so he's not just a nut. :) He does tend to hide more when his colours dull, so I guess he just doesn't want us watching him shed. His behavior has been consistent since we got him, except for recently deciding his paper towel lining is a hiding spot. >.<
I'll just keep an eye on him...
Thank you everyone for all your help! I've decided I'll just let him go under there for the next couple weeks until I tile his tank, and make it all awesome for him. Gonna add a spot to dig, some new hides, another level, and of course the tile. I'll post pictures once it's all done. :)
Thanks. :) Maybe he's just being a bit of a rebel. I'm watching him wander around now, and he's trying half-assed to get under. We'll just keep an eye on him.
No. No light gets in his hide, and it's a coconut, just the right size for him to feel secure and safe. It's been in the same spot, so it's not like we've rearranged his cage on him recently or anything. The entrance for the hide faces away from all light sources, and other than the last couple...
How often should a gecko shed? He's atleast a year old, and he doesn't have much growing left to do. I think he's gotten a tiny bit bigger since we got him, but not much. He seems very happy, and he's healthy. He's friendly with us, he comes and crawls up our arms when we stick our hands in the...
So.. This is a first. We've had the little guy for about 4 months now, and he's suddenly decided it would be more fun to wriggle under the paper towel we're using for substrate, than sleep in the nice moss-filled hide we have for him. He's done it 3 or 4 times now, after we accidentally left his...
Normally I would have called the vet right away. Only problem is, they were closed. But he looks alright now. He decide to eat once we left the room. And he had gotten into his dish of clean water. So we're gonna attempt to feed him in a few minutes, and if he's not interested, we'll be making...
My boyfriend has a Columbian Golden Tegu, and he just won't eat. He's been hiding alot lately, and he's acting really REALLY strange (even for him). He's all jittery, his movement is jerky, and he asn't eaten in 3 days. We gave him his favourite, fuzzies, and he won't take them. He first seemed...
It is possible, as long as I block out most of the sunlight. Which isn't a problem, my boyfriend is nocturnal anyway. :P I read up about it on another site, and it's just a matter of whether you want to deal with changing their sleeping patterns artificially or not.
I had originally decided I...
I totally and completely understand where you're coming from. I'm doing mass amounts of research between now and September when I'll be getting a female, and I may decide I'm not ready to breed yet. Just like I did when I was looking into getting one. I did a good solid 4 months of research...
