    staircase?

Not to hijack too much but I'm curious how you attached the felt so it doesn't move around - Is it weighted under something or suction-cupped in place like repti-hammocks? (I've been thinking of adding a sling/hammock kinda thing to my second level but I'm not sure how to attach it so it...

    staircase?

Aquarium Sealant is probably the best for permanent attachments, but you do need to allow it (or any other silicone-based product) to *fully* cure before you let your leo loose. Silicone does off-gas for a while and the fumes irritate me (a 6'2 190 lb mammal) so I'd wager they're not good for a...

    Can Leos Identify Faces?

There was a Mythbusters ep on this a while back - training goldfish to swim through hoops. Turns out they're smarter than most people think. I've also got a koi (essentially an overgrown goldfish) that I trained (bribed with food) into carrying rocks & dropping them on top of a decoration...

    Mealworm dish height

Could be a little of both - I don't think a 1 inch dish is too much for a juvie or adult though. I had the exact opposite problem here - I switched to shallow glass dishes (1/2 inch sides) because I was worried my leo was having trouble seeing the mealies, but after a few days of no worms...

    where does your leo sleep?

It depends on whether or not he just ate - During the day I'll usually see him curled up in the cool hide (75ish) or the moist hide (high 70s-low 80s). After gorging himself on mealies I usually find him flat on his stomach in the warm hide, looking very content (and almost dead).

crypto arguments and comments moved from a different thread...

Gregg - I'm having the same trouble following your "all leos have (sub-clinical) crypto" logic as a lot of other people seem to be. While this may be true in a certain population (crypto got into a breeding colony and every leo there is infected) I doubt it's true for all captive leos, and...

    Keeping moist hide moist

It looks like you have repti-carpet, so I think the water is wicking out through the paper towel, into the carpet and evaporating away. If you put a waterproof bottom on the hide it will probably help -- the bottom of a cool whip / country crock / etc. container would fit the bill...

    Is this a good sign?

It's a trick! They're just trying to lull you into a false sense of security so they can run away into the darkest corners of the couch! Then it's time for a rousing game of Hunt the Leo! (I'm getting waaay too good at that game -- but I can tell when he's about to bolt now and put an end to...

    another leo hating his vitamins

I use it for moisture if I don't have any veggies around, but I wouldn't count on it as a calcium source (just going by the numbers on the container, it's mostly PA crystals)

Should I feed him more often? Is he too little?

If the rest of the household doesn't mind bugs in the refrigerator you can always buy 1000 at a time and throw most of them in the refrigerator. Works out pretty well for me.

    My leo's tank

If you have a Lowes nearby they have a nicer selection of (non-slippery) tiles, at least IMHO. The tile in my leo's tank is a larger version of what I used in my kitchen :)

    Calcium Powder melting?

That really doesn't sound normal, or good. When I put calcium in my tank it stays powdery, and the calcium is about 3" away from the water bowl. What brand of calcium powder is it?

Get that camera outta my face!

I'm too lazy to resize these now so I'll just post links until I get around to being Not Lazy... The lizard was nestled all snug in his hide, while visions of... EXCUSE ME! I'm trying to SLEEP in here! Um... this hide isn't so good, what with no top and the see-through walls and GET ME OUT...

You can use olive oil instead of mineral oil (same procedure - put a drop on your gecko's nose and let them lick it off). Olive oil is my preference since it's a food product and whatever doesn't go right through your gecko will be absorbed and metabolized. Mineral oil (even 'food grade'...
