    Default Terms we use often on this forum.

    Thought this would be a good idea to help some of the new people to reptiles or into geckos in general to understand some of the things we type.

    I will be copying and pasting more additions to the list in my post so that no one has to weed all the way through the thread.

    General Abbreviations

    • When you see these numbers 1.2.3.4 the meaning behind them are counting the animal they are listing. Each section stands for something, the example here means they have 1 male. 2 females. 3 unsexed. 4 incubating

    • F1, F2, F3: These stand for 1st Generation, 2nd & 3rd, etc. These are used from discribing the number of generation from a special project to a Wild Caught animals offspring.

    • W/C or W/T: Wild Caught & Wild Type (usually to discribe a normal)

    • UTH: Under Tank Heater

    • MBD: Metibolic Bone Disease

    • DIY: Do It Yourself

    • DUW: Dial Up Warning. Used when someone loaded a lot of pics into a thread.

    Leopard Gecko Morphs

    • SHTCTB, This can be broken down in many ways and discribes a combonation of polygenic (linebred) morphs. Super Hypo Tang Carrot Tail Baldy

    • RAPTOR: Red eye Albino Patternless* Tremper ORange

    • APTOR: Albino Patternless* Tremper ORange *This is from a Patternless stripe, not a Murphy's Patternless.

    • TAE: Tremper Albino Enigma

    • MST: Mack Snow Tremper

    • MSB: Mack Snow Bell

    • RWPA or LVPA: Rainwater Patternless* Albino (aka) Las Vegas Patternless* Albino *Murphy's Patternless, not Patternless Stripe.

    • BEE: Black Eyed Enigma

    • RERS: Red Eyed Reverse Stripe

    • BBB: Bell Blazing Blizzard

    • BB: Blazing Blizzard

    Ok, now I'm going to let the rest of you do some of the work... Post away!!

    F1, F2, F3 etc = referring to the amount of generations, i.e F1, 1st generation, F2 2nd generation etc

    NOVA?
    RADAR?
    Not sure if those are acronyms or just names, but it would be nice to define them as they are often used without the morph combo breakdown.

    Some more general ones...

    UTH = Under Tank Heater
    DUW = Dial-up Warning
    DIY = Do it yourself
    MBD = Metabolic bone disease
    Your mind appeals to me. It resembles my own mind except that you happen to be insane.
