I came home from work to an awesome surprise today! I had a loss yesterday - my cockatiel passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. We think it was a heart attack due to night frights (which he had always had, but recovered well from). I was devastated. But, my roommate knew how to cheer me up. We were at the pet store yesterday and I was just looking at the leopard geckos. You know, window shopping. Sure, I had an empty 10 gallon lying around, but I was not going to get another gecko. And, I certainly didn't have the cash to do it this week, anyway! But, after coming home from work, my roommate was acting strange and told me that I needed to check on one of the geckos upstairs. I was so freaked out that something had happened to one of them. But, I needed not to worry as this was what she had in her mind for me to check out:
This is Ollie:
This baby is smaller than my other two little ones. But, overall, appears to be in good condition. My roommate had already separated it from the others by putting it in her bedroom temporarily (it's now in the other spare room - separated from the babies and my LZRDGRL gecks) so there are no quarantine issues. I haven't tried to get a weight, but I will in the next couple of days. The little one doesn't want to eat yet, but I'm not surprised or worried by that. The poor thing is likely just scared out of its mind. But, if my other geckos are examples of acclimating to a new situation, I think this one will be just fine. So, what do you think? Any ID ideas?
What an awesome early b-day gift. My birthday's not even until the end of December! I couldn't be happier - what a way to honor my cockatiel's memory. It won't erase the hurt (nor would I want it to), but I think this little one will help me and my roommate both heal...
