Hi, I recently had an AFT egg hatch. I am wondering what the best way to intice her to eat?? Is it instict when they are ready they chase their prey or do I play a bigger role in their meal time. I nursed a male back to health a year ago by "chilling" his crickets, is this something that I sould be doing with baby?? How many days after hatching is it before they generally start to eat?

Thanks in Advance

Hatchlings generally start feeding anywhere from 5-10 days after they hatch... just toss in a few 1/4" crickets. No need to slow them down or anything, they catch them just fine.

Hope this helps!

I have had many AFT hatchlings start to eat and then stop for a few days to weeks. I don't know why this happens. The first time I worried, but she picked up again and grew really well. Keep offering and eventually it will start.

Just like Alex said, they will eat them when they're hungry. If they seem to "miss" them while chasing them, just take their back legs off. Good luck with your baby!
