I have a male fatty that won't try mealies
he is not that good of a eater in the first place (won't go crazy like others) but he will smash any cricket within eye sight
but I have been increasingly liking mealies a lot more and have started breeding them. so I need some tips and tricks to get him to eat them
should I let him fast? show him how his lady friend eats them?

I also would like to know this, especially since my fat tail is so young.

It might help the more informed posters to know some background information about your fat tail though. Such as how old he is, how much he's currently eating... I'm not even sure but background information is always good to give!

I have a male about 2 years, a female about 5 years and a young female about 9 months. None of them will eat mealworms. There have been other threads on the forum on this topic and the general consensus is that for the most part they won't eat mealworms.

not eating mealworms

On fattys eating mealworms, i went and took a cricket and smeared it scent onto the mealworm and my fatty would take it right up and after i keep doing it for a while the fatty would simply go after them without scenting them. I just ordered some cricket maker scent because im switching from crickets to roaches i will let you all know how it works. Sometimes it just takes a little munipulation of the food source to get them to eat what you want.
