thanks Lzdgrl but should I be able to tell if its a female or male by now if it 4-7 months old.

Yes. If you carefully look at the vent area(bum) you should see should be able to see black dots in the shape of a V if it is a male, none if it is female. If you can see two bulges where the vent meets the tail it is definitely a male, but they may not be there(or not very visible) at that young.
