Hubby Brought home a Tiger Salamander

and I don't know what to do with him.

Ideas please?

I am half inclined to put him by an irrigation ditch somewhere and let him go.
I kind of have an aversion to keeping wild animals as pets.

The kids would like to keep him. What do I put in his tank? dirt/mud?

The most important thing to remember for these guys, and most caudates, is that they have to stay cool! Extended periods over about 75 degrees will likely be lethal.

That should be fairly easy. The house doesn't usually get that warm.
