In case of incubating an egg in a non "sandy" medium ( such as vermiculite or perlite and etc.) but in something like a birds incubator, what are the humidity precents needed?
thanks, guys.
i dont think that will work, you need it in order to give the eggs the humidity,Balance, and just give you a chance for them to hatch, Since its very unlikely eggs will hatch with no incubating medium
Most people are using bird incubators for their first incubator. In the US it's frequently a hobovator which was intended as a bird incubator. The answer is that most people place the eggs into a covered plastic container with a moist substrate to provide the humidity. The container goes right into the incubator. The SIM which you've been provided a link for above also uses moist substrate, but the eggs are suspended above, not in, the substrate. There is quite a bit of discussion in another thread about how to achieve the best humidity for the eggs in the SIM. I don't think reptile eggs placed directly into an incubator will be able to have the correct humidity to hatch.
Thanks Aliza!
My friend claims he can provide humidity into the bird's incubator (he can detrmine the humidity precentage), so...if it's true, how much humidity is needed?
80%?
Once I put a cheap hygrometer (measure of humidity) into the egg container and found that the humidity was 80-90%, though I don't know to what extent I trust that particular device.
