Is it ok to feed young leo 2x per day?

My young leo who I've had for almost 3 weeks is doing great. Good thing is he's eating like a champion and is ALWAYS ready to eat! I feed crickets primarily and mealworms. I feed him in the early evenings when he is most active but he is also hungry very late at night/early am. I'm a bartender so I get home sometimes at 3 am and he's very active at this time and HUNGRY! What I have been doing is feeding 2x per day versus one gut-busting meal. I have a backround in nutrition, albeit human, but I feel that feeding smaller more frequent meals is beneficial for other animals I've owned. Does it apply to leos'? What I usually do is feed maybe 8-10 crickets and leave him wanting a bit more, then late I'll feed him more crickets or even like 5-6 mealworms. Right now it seems to be working out as his digestive regularity is like clockwork, poops almost the same time each evening almost right before feeding and his weight gain looks good. Any opinions on this feeding schedule?

If its really young I don't see why not. But once he gets older maybe don't feed as much. You can do two smaller meals if you want, but 16 mealworms every day is a bit much once he gets older. For now I think it's okay. I normally feed 12 mealworms every day for my hatchlings and small juvies, 12 every other for my large juvies and "young adults", and 12 every two days for my adults. Those are just approximations, and each leo may have different needs.

I agree with pheonix. Once it gets to adult size I wouldn't feed twice a day. I feed once a day of dibia roaches and leave a couple mealworms in a dish.

Once he gets over 25g I would cut down on feeding. Most of mine will eat 5x a day if I offer food but growing too fast can be bad for them. I try to limit mine to 1-2g per week growth at most up to 40g and then 1g a week max to a healthy weight that's not too fat (which depends a whole lot on the individual gecko).
