Just how good is Super Hatch at holding moisture

When I moved, in August, these containers got stuck under my kitchen sink. Both containers have two 3/64" holes drilled in them to allow for air exchange.

Well these two containers have been set up since April of 2009 and when I pulled them out from under my sink tonight, look at what I found.

Before the lids are removed.

Just pulled the lids off.

To show the comparison of new unhydrated super hatch to the moist super hatch

Its not really the substrate that held in the moisture... It was the container...

We have eggs in our containers for well over 120 days when incubating certain monitors... We know the containers can hold it for more than double that time...

I love super hatch! I bought like 4 bags when it first came out, not thinking, and I've only opened one. I love how it's reusable and easy to use.

Very true the container does hold the moisture in, but I was extremely surprised to have pulled them out after 6 months, to find them still moist, even with the ventilation and no smell or mold present.

I bought a little 2lbs bag and have used only 1/2 of it. I just boil the used rock and then reuse it.
