How are they as a first snake? I'm looking for something small and I was thinking a sand boa or a Cali King. I've handled both and liked them.

sand boas are interesting, but im not sure if they are really good firsts snakes, they best first snake are balls, and rats or corns, i caught a rat snake when i was 4 with my grandpa, and i still have it today, his name is big red lol

Kings are good because they have an awesome feeding responce. Balls can be picky and go off feed and end up stressing new snake keepers, but are easy to keep. Corns and rats are good as well.

I don't want a ball because I'd like something on the smaller side. I had pet rats and while feeding mice and pinkies and things doesn't bother me feeding rats would.
