marking the eggs- toxic?

Isn't marking the eggs with permanent markers toxic and might hurt the egg?

i have done it with a regular sized black permeant markers (Sharpie Brand) with no problems

I also have been marking eggs with sharpies for years with no issues.

Now are your planning on boiling the eggs at all after they've been marked? Just asking because in my grade eight science class waayy back then we decorated eggs(food store brand chicken eggs) with sharpies and boiled them after, to what we discovered was the eggs that we coloured cracked at the fine points where the most ink was located. Is this where you may be asking if the ink is toxic? Because yes in large amounts it can eat through the shell. (at least on a chicken egg anyway)

I have never had a problem with marking the eggs. I don't believe they absorb any of the actual marker.
