Ok I was NOT prepared for this! I have had my 2 pair since like May and have NEVER seen an egg until a couple days ago. At first I thought she just took a giant poop (I had fed them pinkies a day or so before) so I kind of made a mental note to clean their cage when I got home from the doctor. I then examined it more closely to find it to be a hardened oblong shaped egg with an indent in the front of it. I left it be for a bit then called someone who told me to get some "Hatch Right" and put it in a warm place. I was gone all day long at appointments and when I came home with the stuff to do this the egg had softened a bit and had clear indents in it. I still placed it in the substrate and placed it in a warm area but am not sure if the egg is still viable.....sniff
How long before I would know for sure its a good one?
How long before she lays any more?
Why haven't my other pair had eggs yet? Is it because of his genetic malfunctions? He is quite a "whirlybird"(Albino Bell Enigma) and I even have to hand feed him because he is so affected that she eats all his food before he can get to it. It even takes him 5-7 tries with it right in front of him before he can actually coordinate his movements to grab the food. Could this be the problem? She is not in his gene pool so I am hoping maybe I can breed this neuro problem out. Am I making a mistake?
I know VERY LITTLE about Leos but I love these little guys. I feed them plenty of crickets, waxies, grasshoppers, roaches (when I can get them) and pinkies along with their calcium and all that.
What do I do if the egg does hatch? What do I feed the babies?
Sorry for the long post, I am just so excited to enter the next stage of Leo Love!
