thanks everyone!

hey nick (or anybody who knows),

how long does it take for an amel to get its full colors?

hey mo, usually 10 months to a yr. then once you start breeding, its downhill from there LOL after their 1st breeding season they start to fade out a bit. when the 1st amel came in yrs ago, for awhile it was thought to be leucistic cause it was almost pure white. meno looks like she still will get more color, by the darker orange between the bands:main_thumbsup:

sorry for the OT, but Nick, you touched on a delicate subcject and food for thought with the leucistics...
Many people are getting ripped off, mainly in Europe, buying supposedly leucistics at cosmic prices. As an example you have http://www.crystalpalacereptiles.com/proddetail.php?prod=LeuFT, selling them for almost 2000$!, where it's not an issue of overly expensive geckos because they also have albinos for 80 pounds, being some 120 bucks. They are not an exception selling leucistics, because I've seen ads of other people selling them and seems there is a bunch of breeders who seem to specialize in leucistics.
Now where does the truth lie? I have no clue... But I do remember the dnj fat-tails you might be refering to, and they were white, just as you say.

There is even mention of leucy's in some books, namely those by Barlett.

Im not trying to talk down upon other breedrrs but that does not look like anything more then a proven amel fattie, NOT a leusistic.

I think you may be right, I think it was DNJ,I cant remember LOL. it was about 10-12 yrs ago that I saw them at a show. the gecko came wild caught as an adult and was almost white. as for the link you attached, pat is right you can tell just by looking at the gecko pictured that its an amel and not leucistic. some people just dont have morals LOL or maybe they just dont know what they are selling, but thats another topic;)
