Please help. Whats wrong with him? :(

I recently separated my trio and I was changing their waters there a few minutes ago and noticed this...

It's not an amazing picture but it is swollen around that area and its quite red. What's happened and what can I do? I'm about to bathe him to see if it helps but any idea what's wrong?

My first thought was prolapse, or sperm plugs that have caused a blockage of sorts. I would try the bath, but because of how red and swollen it is, I would consider a vet visit.

I took him to the vet and he had whats called a scrotal abscess and the vet had to lance it the get the puss out. After he got him cleaned up it also looked like the start of a dry prolapse. Need to clean tub twice a day to keep very sterile. Boiled water cooled and a sterile syringe and rinse around the cut and apply F10 cream. Also need to try to get him drinking reptoboost of a syringe

Unfortunately yesterday he passed away. He didn't make it :'( it must've been too much for him
