I use a Canon 40D. I just bought a new point and shoot but haven't had a chance to shoot geckos with it yet. It's a Canon ELPH SD960 IS and the macro setting is amazing.

I have a Canon Rebel XT 8mp and a Canon Powershot A590IS ...the rebel is awesome and takes great pictures but costs alot. The powershot is a point and shoot that probably costs 200 or less. I got mine from best buy for 130.

The camera I got is a Cyber-shot DSC-T200 its pretty good for macro shots. Here are two shots taken with it with white backgrounds.

Chewbecca - Awesome pictures!

I need a new camera too so any more ideas anyone?

Any good point and shoot digital cameras? or just stay away? Also, is the flash going to stress the geckos out?

I shoot a Nikon D200. Just remember that the lenses are more important that the camera though.

If you use proper lighting you should not need to use flash. I don't know enough about geckos to say whether using flash will stress them or not however.

Not geckos but....

those pictures were taken with the kit lens. No post processing or anything. Straight from the camera to the computer. The close up shots of the geckos WERE cropped though.

We use the Nikon D40 works great with the kit lenses. 18-55mm and the other lense we upgraded with the 55-200 mm vr lense instead of the regular 55-200 mm
