Hey guys, This is probably a shot in the dark but I thought it was worth a try to ask anyways....I hade posted another thread on here talking about my baby albino gecko named Wiggles that was pretty siick...Well he has since gotten worse...I think he is going to die any day now and I'm absolutely heart broken...:bigcry:

I was wondering if anyone might be interested in taking in my little guy to see if they could save him?.....I doubt anyone would want a sick Gecko in their home but I had to ask anyway because I feel soo hopeless and Love this little guy a lot....

I have already taken him to the vet and it didn't really help much so I thought maybe someone here could help me?...Maybe I'm wrong but I had to try anyway....Thx for your time guys....

It would be good to know where you live since obviously you wouldn't want to ship him in that condition. Also consider that moving may not be good for him. Another choice is to care for him as best as you can and get lots of support from us in making him as comfortable as you can.

I live in Madera Ca...Its about 25 mns from Fresno....I do realise that moving him might not be the best thing for him but I have do do something because at this rate I feel like I'm just watching him slowly die...I am trying to care for him the best I can, I'm just wondering if someone with more experience with Geckos might be able to help him more than I am....I would be willing to work out something with a little cash for helping me....

I'd love to help but I live in Canada... have you tried slurry? So sorry about your little guy.

EDIT: Here's some herp vet links in California I googled. Maybe one will take him on a payment plan, even if it's to euthanize him.

http://www.herpvetconnection.com/calif.shtml
http://www.herpvetdirectory.com/vet/CA.html
http://www.anapsid.org/vets/califs.html

Good luck

Thx for the links...Yes we have tryed the slurry...I dont think he liked it too much...He really likes Vanilla Ensure...The last few days I've been giving him ensure with a few wax worm guts and a little calcium powder...He will actually lick a little of that...He has seemed to liven up a little the past 2 days, but he is sooo skinny....I just don't know how long he can hang on like that...

Canada as well...but I couldn't view and not post given the circumstances.

I think giving him away for help is good, but I think you shouldn't give up. There are a lot of caring and knowledgable people on this forum that have given great advice. I think you just need to sit down and try to research and implement the advice given. I have a leo that I was stressing over because I thought she was sick, and I kept trying to look at her and handle her and watch her 24/7 to see if anything changes but I found that my actions were stressing her out, and her stress made me stress...lol So maybe just try checking up on him when you go to feed him. If no one is going to take him, you just need to give him some time and hang in there. Stay postive. I know you're trying everything you can but really take in the advices given in your other thread and don't give up. Best of luck :)

Thx...I'm trying my best to not stress him out...I have been checking on him quiet a bit just to see if he is still alive...I dont touch him or hold him unless I'm trying to feed him...I have since left the light off and we got him another hide on the cold side, so I think his enclosure is setup just how it should be...

I'm trying to stay positive...I have tryed to give him time...The only problem is that over time he has gotten worse...Thats why I wanted to know if anyone else would be willing to try....

I am so sorry, it must be so hard on you to have to watch Giggles being so sick:eek: I live in Iowa so I can't help take him, but I just had to post when I read this. I know you said you took him to the vet and he tested negative for parasites, but I'm surprised they couldn't give you any answers. I'm new to Gecko's so I don't have a clue really either. Seems to me though, they would of at least tried an antibiotic or some worming medicine, just in case. If it gets so bad and you really think he is suffering they could put him to sleep. I had to do that many years ago with an iguana that was terribly sick with MBD and probably parasites, due to the fact of improper care instructions I was given (there wasn't any internet then either). But of course, I still blamed myself (shouldn't have) as like you I tried everything and went to a vet. Anyway, I can tell by your post how much you love your lil guy, and please know that NONE of this is your fault. You are doing the very best you can, and thats all any person can do. {{{Huggs}}}

Awe thx....as far as the vet...She said his stool was negative for paracites and crypto...She gave us some Batrol which we gave him for about 7-10 days...He perked up a little but that wasn't the answer...

I do love this little guy a lot, I don't know how I got so attached to him...It's probably because he looks different and he had soo much personality...Well anyways someone has pm'd me offering to help...Hopefully all goes well and I can keep him alive until he can take him...

A lot of the time, there are employees at animal hospitals that are willing to adopt animals that are surrendered...try and ask the hospitals around your area, someone might be willing to give him the care he needs.

Well guys I'm sad to say that I lost him this morning....:bigcry:...I felt in my heart that he was dieing....I thought maybe I could try to save him but I guess I just couldn't help the little guy...I don't know if I'll try to get another one in the future...These guys seem a little tricky to take care of....I think I made a big mistake by getting a baby...

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry for your lost. It must be really hard because you've been trying everything to help him get better. *HUGS* Just remember that you did the best you could. You didn't make a mistake in getting your little guy...it's not your fault. Hope you choose to get one in the future (not the near future, but whenever you're ready) They are pretty cute :)

thx...It is hard because I have been having these problems up and down with him for the past 3 months...It's been very stressful and sad...I know I tried everything I could but I think it is partly my fault...It's ok though, I guess it's a learning experience...

If I do choose to get another one it will be an adult, and I will make sure I ask a lot of questions and do more research before hand....

Thx again guys for all of your help and support, it is greatly appreciated...:main_yes:

I am sorry for your loss. I just say this thread today. Where did you get him. I got 3 from a pet store and they did basically the same thing. Just slowly died. It turned out to be Crypto. Lucky I was able to get my money back for them. Which is why I have started my business. To breed healthy geckos. Leos are quite easy to care for but you have to be careful of tap water. It is also hard to diagnose crypto until they die unfortunatly. If you have any questions regarding these guys I would be willing to help as I am sure anyone would.

I got him from a pet store...and actually I had bought two at the same time, they were both babies and the other one died about 3 n a half months ago...They might have been sick off the get but I think some of my actions might have led to their demise as well...all I know is that I tried my best...If I did anything wrong it was because I wasn't sure how to do it right...

So you are a breeder now?....
