Do freshly laid eggs always look yellow when you candle them?

My female laid two nice big eggs last night and when I candled them they both looked bright yellow does this mean they are infertile or have the baby's not started to develop yet?

That depends...sometimes I find eggs, candle them, and they show veins from day 1. Others don't at first, but then I candle them 2 weeks later, and they do. No matter what, incubate until there's no doubt that it's infertile.

I agree with the others. This just happened to be recent too. My female laid her 5th clutch of the season and I was 98% positive they were infertile. (Squishy, yellow, funny shapes) but that 2% chance made me incubate them and thank god I did because I candled two days ago (7 days after they were laid) and I saw three little veins in each egg.

I'd also suggest you move the light around the egg in all angles. For the aforementioned clutch, they just looked yellow from most angles but after a few tries I found the sweet spot that confirmed life.

The general rule of thumb is, incubate until they turn rancid haha. Good luck!
