I have been told that I spoil my geckos when I feed. I was just wondering what everyone else does, besides worm dishes.
I feed 4-5 days a week. I have recently acquired dubias so I have been using them almost exclusively. So, what I do is I use forceps to get a roach and wiggle it so they know it's feeding time, then let the roach go. Well, if they don't chase it I will grab the roach again and place it near them. The only issue with this is that it can put them off and then the wont eat. I was using meal worms before and they are easy, but the roaches tend to run to the nearest dark spot which is usually under the gecko.... I also have one girl that wont chase them really at all. So I have to either tong feed her or put the roaches upside down in front of her. I don't mind this with her she is a rescue and "special needs".
The roaches are just frustrating sometimes and if the geckos aren't that hungry they won't chase them. I would really like to make this process a little more efficient. It would be nice if they would chase them on their own. Would it be ok to let them eat on their own, supervised, as in if they don't chase it for them selves they don't eat? I just don't want to be the one chasing the roaches around the tank anymore, but I want them to eat as well. Which is why I end up chasing the roaches...
