Light Needs

I live in the desert and have blackout curtains to keep the heat out. Is there a need for a natural light cycle for a leopard gecko? I know they are nocturnal, but do they need natural light to have a normal "sleep rhythm"? Will being in the dark most of the time with only room lamp light exposure harm them?

As long as it's not pitch black 24/7, it's fine. I keep mine in my garage where they get little light.
