Ovulation alongside egg production

Hello everyone.

My question this time is more in relation to health. I had a female that just laid an infertile egg (too soft, like a half-full water balloon) but the strange thing is that she has a clearly visible pink ovulation. In fact she had this ovulation during egg production before laying it.

Did any of you saw this happen before? Egg production and laying alongside ovulation. My other females have a normal cycle of ovulation - eggs - laying - new ovulation. I'm finding this very strange.

I'm looking for input by those who have previous experience.

Its just a matter of the individual animals. Some females will lay, then a few days will pass prior to seeing a visible ovulatory follicle. Others will have new noticeable follicles prior to laying. I have females on both ends of the spectrum.
