So I changed out the substrate today to vermiculite. I noticed my gecko licking it..Is this ok, or will it cause an impaction?? Can I use vermiculite, or should I go back to the brown dirt like stuff that is normally used for layboxes? I wanted to try something new..But if this is going to hurt my females..I don't wanna use it! Thanks in advance for the advice!:)

I have used vermiculite in the past but have found that some of my geckos ate it and it comes out the other end. I've had most success with the coco fiber.

I normally use Sphagnum Moss for my moist hides but switched to coco fiber after my females mated. I think that it allows them to dig better than the moss does and also stays moist longer.
