What are some good brands of either one of these items??? Also is a digital thermometer a better way to go vs. a manual???

I have a Ranco, and Herpstat. Love em, love em!! I went through a rheostat/dimmer from Zilla, and a Repti 500R before a realized that these were the best for me. Digital thermometer is much better than manual. And a must have.. is a temp gun..:main_yes:

If you are wanting a thermostat for just a tank or a rack just get a hydrofarm thermostat off amazon. It's 30 bucks shipped. Keeps the temps from 89-92 in my racks which is fine. If using it for an incubator, get a ranco or herpstat
