What you're seeing when you look at ovulation progressing to the gravid state.

Gravid female. Note the shift of 'red rings' to on side, and the fact that one is blatantly lower than the other. That is the forming eggs as they travel down the reproductive tract. In another few days, they will be back to one on either side of the body and start moving gradually toward where they will rest until they are laid.

To give you a better idea of what you see, when you see 'ovulation spots', referring to the figure below-
Ovulation spots are the vesicular follicle migrating down the reproductive tract (hence why you see the red outline, because it is the follicular envelope.)
Once the last cell division occurs, the secondary oocyte is shed from the follicle, which is the true point of ovulation. Once the secondary oocyte is shed, it can be fertilized, but either way, it will continue its journey down the reproductive tract until it is either reabsorbed by the female, or makes its way to the finish line and is laid.

Thanks :) When I posted the pic and described it on my FB page, I realized not many people had thought of what it happening, so I figured I'd throw it together in a thread
