where to stick the uth

im doing a setup for my new leos to be here shortly... i havent gotten my uth yet, but i was wondering if i should stick it under the tank, or between the tank floor and slate tile (that i'll be using for substrate)?

another question: is a rheostat/thermostat necessary if i keep an eye on the temps with a digital probe thermometer?

Under the tank would be the best place. You do not need a therm/rheostat unless you see the temps are getting to high.
