Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you had any experience with the Fluker's Castle Crib, the small size? Would it be big enough for a fully grown male leo? Right now, I don't have the space for the large one. I was hoping the small one would be sufficient until I am able to buy a bigger tank for my little man.
I have a hide right now, I was just hoping to spruce up the tank a little bit and possible give Mika (the leo) a little more space to move around. This is what I have right now:
I know it is cramped but it is the best I can do at the moment. See, someone left him by the dumpster by my work (I work at a pet store) so I took him in. All he had was the hide and a water bowl. No top, no lights, nothing. The previous owners had also been using sand as his substrate and he had become impacted (probably why they had dumped him). He was also struggling to shed and had obviously had problems in the past and it was ignored so he is missing some toes on his back feet and the toes on his front feet are nothing but nubs.
So I've slowly been upgrading his digs. The basking ramp/hide there is new. I swamped out the sand for tiles and gave him a low watt UVB light that is on a timer and a red night light (on the same timer). His damp hide in the left corner also now has a combo of sphagnum moss and paper towels, whereas before it didn't have anything. I'm hoping to switch out the temporary damp hide with the Fluker's hide so I can also ditch the large water bowl and maybe get a smaller one or none at all, depending on how big the fluker's combo is.
When I get a 20g tank instead of the 10g he has now, I plan on doing a lot more.
