Well, my Ruby (RAPTOR Leo gecko) finally laid her first, and my first, clutch ever!! It took her 26 Days After 1st Mating.

Here I will be posting weekly photos to show any transitions/changes, and I will be describing my incubation process/details. Feel free to make suggestions if you see I am doing something that could be improved. :)

----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------

Week 0 (layed 2 hours ago)
--------
Egg#1 appears white with no vein.

Egg#2 appears a dull yellow-green but has a very distinct vein in it. I am going to incubate both and hope for the best. Both eggs weighed 4.2grams/each.

(confused: I thought "white & vein" was good...& "yellow & no vein was bad"??)

(Note: Cups has been incubated empty for 1week...has condensation?)

Good luck my two off my first clutches this season looking infertile.

That sucks, but I guess a healthy-laying is all that can be hoped for with a first clutch?. :( Atleast that's the general opinion I hear. So I am glad they layed well, and am wishing you luck on the next clutches!! :D

I am not entirely sure what to think about these first 2 eggs? I am using an LED light (with a super-white/blue color).

Egg#1 looked pure white, but no vein.

Egg#2 looked a yellow/greenish color, but it DOES have a distinct vein. (blue-ish light + yellowish egg = yellow/greenish candled??)

I have read alot about colors of candled eggs (varies depending on website) and they all agree that veins are good in early weeks. However, any input on color, especially these colors/pics, would be greatly appreciated. :)

I will incubate thoroughly at 81F, and I will candle them again next week. I incubated them in separate "compartments" just in case one starts to decompose. :O

Some eggs will surprise you by looking like duds and turning out perfect and vice versa. It's best to just throw them in the incubator until they smell/mold as that is a clear sign they're no good.
But here's a picture to help, both these eggs were bad; you could tell just by looking at them. Not to mention they came from the only female I have that I DON'T want to breed who has never been paired lol which is exactly my luck. Anyway, I hope it's a decent reference for you.

To me, your eggs look like they could both be good. It's early to see veins and all that. Time will tell!

I raised cockatiels years ago. I loved candleing the eggs. It is the neatest thing to see a tiny beating heart! I hope someday I can see that with a gecko egg!

Egg#1: Still white and candles solid white with no veins.

Egg#2: White but candles red and has atleast 1 vein, maybe a second one at the end of the egg now (far end of the 2 pics below). :)

.^^Lid condensation...2 holes in lid...heaviest condensation over Empty section.
.

A1, 9days old, starting to dent slightly..never had a vein.

A2, still has a red vein, feels more firm than A1.

.^^That "reddish/brownish blotch is NOT a vein...just one of the "stains" (from cocofiber??) that is on a few eggs.

Eggs A1 + A2 layed on March 26. (about 15 days ago)
Eggs B1 + B2 layed on April 2. (about 8 days ago)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The cup with all 4 eggs in it:
.
100_2558_Apr_10_2014_egg_cup_condensation.jpg

.
100_2547_Apr_10_2014_eggs.jpg

.^^Notice how there is NO condensation over A2, A3, A4, (and the empty space also) but there IS condensation over A1. I wonder if this is a sign of a bad egg?? A1 is the ONLY "soft" egg right now...soft as a "grape that is past its prime." The 3 other eggs are firm as a good grape. However, it appears that the dent (spotted last week) in A1 has plumped back out...it was only a tiny dent when seen last week.

A1: Soft...candles yellow-greenish...still no veins visible.
-------------------------------------------
.
100_2550_Apr_10_2014_egg_a1_soft_yellowgreen.jpg

.^^Camera auto adjusts and makes it look white-ish...but it is a yellow-greenish.

A2: Firm...candles Red...has visible vein.
----------------------------------------------
.
100_2552_Apr_10_2014_egg_a2_vein_candles_red.jpg

.^^See the vein in the middle? :)

B2: Candles yellowish, but HAS VEIN (Hopefully the VEIN means it will be fertile...but I don't know because I thought "yellow" was always bad??
.
100_2555_Apr_10_2014_egg_b1_VEIN_candles_yellow.jpg

.^^Candles yellow (not white...the camera adjust the color..grrrr). The vein is a big round red circle on the left side.

B2: Candles yellow-reddish...no vein visible.
---------------------------------------------------
.
100_2557_Apr_10_2014_egg_b2_candles_reddish_yellow.jpg

.^^Camera adjust color...it is a mix between yellow and a hint of red...NOT as red as seen in picture...gggrrr...stupid camera...

Eggs A1 + A2 layed on March 26. (about 27 days ago)
Eggs B1 + B2 layed on April 2. (about 20 days ago)

A1
----
-Starting to rot and deflate.
-There is still a NOTICEABLE amount of more condensation over egg A1 than any other eggs. Most other eggs have NO condenstion over them.
-There is still no smell, so I will wait one more week to be sure it is rotten before I freeze/discard it. :(

.^^ Egg A1 is at bottom left in the GEO in this pic...notice the condensation over it?

.^^Egg A1 is the darkest egg, located at the bottom right of the GEO.

Ruby layed her second clutch, eggs A3 and A4 on April 24, 2014 @ 1am (27 days after laying clutch #1.). Here is a video of egg A3, about 44 hours after being layed, of MOVEMENT inside a perfect bullseye. (Egg A4 also has a perfect bullseye and MOVEMENT as well.. :) It has a rhythmic pulse....a heartbeat??
