Well my 7 year old crested gecko has all of a sudden stopped moving around much.
He is on his 4th terrarium now,the one now being a 55 gallon stood up vertically. I just put him in there on Monday . I made him a pretty comfy and high up tree area where he sleeps. He slept there Monday night...
Are you guys pre mixing it and storing in fridge or putting the powder in? I have never stored my powder but if that's what you need to do then I guess i'll start...
Nice garg, your set up needs some work though! I have my garg in a tall terrarium with tons of plants cocoa husk to hold humidity. If you know somebody handy you should turn the cage into a vertical orientation and build a door for the open top so your garg can climb high. :)
Cresteds are possibly the easiest exotic pet to care for ( maybe lol.) I feed mine fresh CGD every night and he just stays at room temp 72-75 , I also have a cool mist fogger so if he wants to cool down he goes and sits under it. I feed mine crickets about once every 6 months, they always find...
Well I answered my own question and bought a Crane ultrasonic humidifier off craigslist for $20, i'm going to hook a hose up to it tomorrow and direct the fog into the cage. Much cheaper alternative for those looking to keep their guys moist this winter!
Your enclosure may not be humid enough. In the winter the air is much more dry so you need to mist the cage a lot in order to keep the humidity. My guy will not stick to glass when it's to dry...
I was walking around lowes today and saw that they sell ultrasonic humidifiers( water based) for about $40, some even emit hot water! Obviously there is no long hose to connect up to the cage but that is an easy DIY. Has anybody used one of these instead of spending a lot for the unreliable...
Bumping up this thread, it's a good one.
I use eco earth on my crested, garg and half of my leo's 20 gal long tank is filled with it other half is tile. My question is about the mites. The ecoearth in the crested ( came from a brick) has had mites for the past year. I often find these guys...
I use branches that fall also, have been for a while and I never understood why somebody would pay for one. I usually sand the sticks with gritty paper to get all loose bark off or fungus and wash them / soak with very hot water. I have not baked the sticks, seems like a big energy waste using...
