Check the thread, sand may provide a better heat barrier than double layered paper towels, but as you know, paper towels are really convenient and easy to clean.

I wrote u back i the thread, but I'll ask you here too... Do you have any sort of foundation underneath your tile or did you put the tile straight on the glass bottom?
