I believe its because of the screen lids. Not really the best type of protection if the happen to strike up at you. The venom can sling at you. I do house my prairie and pygmy in glass aquariums, but they have custom built wood tops. All my others are housed in custom built enclosures.

My valentines day present:

This is our first year with albino burm eggs, but our second year breeding. We got 23 eggs from her, which isn't bad for her first year clutch and with the size that she is. Only about 15 of them are probably good though, but I will hang onto them until the start stinking. LOL

Oh, I also use it for all my geckos too!!

I use non-printed newspaper that I purchase for $.10 a pound at my local Merchandiser for all my snakes. I have over 40 snakes and I will never use anything else. Super easy cleanup, cheap and I have never had any problems using it. Good luck!
