Is it best to feed your Leo in his/her tank or in a separate container?

I've had my Leo just shy of 2 weeks now and he/she still runs when I go to get him/her out. He/she also hides 90% of time. How long does it normally take for them to adjust to being handled?

I read that the humidity should be between 20%-40%. Is this accurate. Mine is at 45%. How do I make it go down? Less moist moss?

My Leo's current substrate is the reptile carpet. I've read many things about how they should not have any kind of loose substrate. Is this true? Has anyone had a bad experience with it?
