Could I possibly use one UTH for two 10-gal tanks? I ask because the UTH's just seem so small...the 10-20gal UTH is so tiny, it looks like it'd only cover a corner of the tank. Could I use a 30-40 gal ZooMed UTH and place it sideways to heat both tanks?

I use the 6x8 inch 10-20 gallon heater for my 10 gallon no problem. It's only supposed to cover about 1/3 of the tank, to provide a good heat gradient. That said, your plan doesn't sound like it will work. The adhesive used by the ZooMed heaters is said to help in the heat transferring process. And by the time you factor in the width of the trim on the two tanks, you'd still have the same amount of floor heated in both tanks, probably less. And prolonged exposure to the heating pad could cause the trim on the tanks to melt.

It would also be a pain to move the tanks in the future since they would be "permanently" bonded together. You aren't supposed to remove a UTH after sticking it on.
