i was considering buying a few 10g. vert kits. has anyone tried them for there gargs? i know there meant for dendro tanks and im afraid they may hold too much humidity. i built some 10 gal vert fronts but there not fruit fly proof and i like the "professional" look of these ones.

If you are goiong to use it for a garg I would suggest going with a 15 gallon instead. Because once you fill it up with the dirt, you will be loosing about 2 gallons work of space and 8 gallons is not large enough for a garg. By going with the 15 gallons you will be left with about 13 gallons of space, a much better size.

Here is a link to how to make your own front door for verticle tanks. In the near future we will be doing this as we are going to set up a planted aquarium. We were going to make just a screen door but if we go with the anole species I want to do, they will eventually breed and I dont want to deal with fruit flies getting loose so we will be building it this way.

yea, i saw that link a while back. it does look nice with the false full front screen borders. i didnt want to make my door that way because of weight issues with the hinge is you use plexi/glass. and i 10 g is the lowest recommendation for a single adult garg. none of the 8 10g vert i have use bedding. just paper towel or ceramic tile...so they do get the full 10 g...with the exceptoin of two of the tanks having diy great stuff/rock/branch/eco earth on the back. all the diy tanks i have just use sceen border/screen for the top 2/3 of the tank and the bottom 1/3 uses glass silicon'd in place.

everything I have read on them adults requite about equiv to a 15-20 gallon aquarium, I have mine in a 20 gallon, thats why I recomended the 15. Remember they are larger then cresties easily hitting the 50-60g mark.
