Is it ok to house one male crested in this for life?

I would say no. Cresteds need a space that is taller than it is wide. A 12x12x18/10 gallon tank is recommended for juvies-young adults. I personally suggest an 18x18x24/20 gallon or maybe even larger for an adult.

I keep my adults in 16" cubes and they seem to be doing just fine. 12" cubes sound a little small, though.

Yea i was just wondering cause there is one in perfect condition on craigslist for 40 but im just gunna get 18x18x24. Preciate the responses though.
