1st Egg in the Incubator!

I'm so excited. I've had this breeding pair of SHTCTB's from Geckophiles and the first few weeks the female laid an egg and it went bad--some of you remember. Then I was away when she laid another egg and I didn't even know she was gravid. And now! I looked in there today and everything was all disheveled. And I was thinking "what the hell?". Then it dawned on me and I lifted the moist hide out and lo and behold! An EGG!

It's in the incubator as we speak :D. Inc'ed at around 83 degrees. Hopefully that is an okay temp to get a 50/50 chance for male or female, since I have no preference at all.
Wish me luck all. The egg looked really good when I put it in! No dimples or anything, perfectly shaped :D.

So we'll see what happens in the next few weeks. I'm moving in september, so that will be a bizarre experience I think. :S. Might have to leave the incubator alone.

Any advice while I take care of this little egg?

you can bump the temp to 85 if you want. 83 will most likely get you a female, but 85 will be more of a 50/50 chance, plus it will hatch quicker at that temp. Congrats on your first egg!

also, ill second what wendy said, but i dont hink it matters if you look at it every day or not, it still seems like forever the first time!

We run our females at 83 and get about a 90% rate of success and we run our males at 87-88 and get usually get the same percentage. the higher temps on the males always come out with much more brilliant colors..

Congrats!!

My only advise is to try not to stare at it every day liek I did with my first clutch, seems like that makes it take longer to hatch lol

LOL:main_laugh: , i know wht you mean. i stared at my first clutch for a hour a day, i now know it wont make it hatch any quicker
