1st mating of the season!

I am so excited I could bust!:main_yes: I just got a mating with my female Giant Eclipse-Stella and my male Eclipse Comet. Things went super well, she cooperated as soon as he started nipping at her side she raised her tail. He was a bit bumbling at first, being a first timer I guess, but he figured things out pretty quick. He was in her tank less than 10 min. and the job was done! I had been checking for ovulations but hadn't seen anything yet, but I am not very experienced yet in looking. She is 62g so I feel confident she will be fine. Should I put them together in a few more days again or just wait for eggs at this point?

This is my first season- but I am fully prepared with incubator, hatch boxes, containers for the babies, etc....

This is my first year too, so I may be wrong, but I don't know that mating will do any good if she isn't ovulating. I "borrowed" the following pic because it is better than the pics of my ovulating females. This is what you will want to look for...the excessive number of white masses toward the middle of the abdomen (and you may see the pink on/around them to be sure):

she doesnt appear to be ovulating to me either.

haha! thats my little girl damsel! oh and to answer your question, i like to re introduce my male at least once a week, or until the eggs are clearly visible, just to make sure the "job" gets done It's been successful for me! and i recieved two eggs this morning to show for it



edit: here is a photo of my girl who laid her eggs last night. The first one is at about a week after breeding, the second one is just a few days before laying. if you can't see the eggs, i can circle them (goodness! these pictures are coming out ginormous! sorry! )

Thanks for the pics- I had seen a small pink area in the center- just not eggs. I had been told by other breeders that most likely the female is ovulating if they are cooperative. This theory makes sense to me as it is true for many reptiles. Also I tried my male with one of my other females a few days ago and she attacked him, I removed him Very quickly- poor guy- that female was definitely not ready!

ahhhh! poor guy! my female waves her tail like she is hunting a cricket and lunges at my boys if she isnt ready (even if she is ovulating! :main_rolleyes: ) And i can't wait to see the babies from your pairing! i adore the white eclipse feet!

Put my 2 together again today, they mated in about 2 min. Yeah! Put a lay box in the females tank with coconut fiber in it. How long till I see eggs? I have read they usually lay eggs every 4-6 wks throughout the season, but what about the first time?
