1. What is a Fascio?

2. What is 1 Copy vs. 2 Copy when it comes to enigmas and how can you tell between the two?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I imaging 1 copy would mean 1 parent was enigma, 2 copy being both parents were enigma. I don't think there is a physical way to tell. I don't know for sure as I've only aquired my first enigma this week, but I know in the SHT lines there is no physical way to know.

Fascio = subspecies Eublepharis macularius fasciolatus.
Somewhat paler, good outcross for snows.

(I'm not sure what's up with the sound quality/clicking in the background, but it has really good information)

Also, there is no way to know whether you have 1 copy or 2 copy enigma, even if there are two enigma parents (although this is the assumption that is most practically employed, it may not be accurate). The reason for this is that as a dominant trait, it either transfers or it doesn't from each parent. There's a lot of conjecture, but until there is such a thing as a leopard gecko genotype mapping project, I don't think we'll ever know.

Test breeding will tell if your enigma is '1 copy' or '2 copy', effectively it's saying you're animal is het enigma ( 1 copy) or homo enigma (2 copy).

A 2 copy enigma bred to any non enigma animal will result in 100 percent enigma offspring. :main_thumbsup: These would be ' 1 copy'...........

That is one way, yes.
But it still wouldn't work in the example of enigma x enigma, because you won't know which parent made the offspring 100% enigma.

Not arguing, just clarifying. ;)

You would have to take the offspring from the enigma x enigma and test breed to a non enigma to determine if they were 2 copy.

Only sure fire way to produce 2 copy enigmas is by crossing a 2 copy enigma X 2 copy enigma.

Most enigmas out there are 1 copy enigma. This is partially due to the rumor that was started a couple years ago that enigma x enigma was fatal or produced enigmas with really bad syndrome. So everyone was crossing enigmas to something other than an enigma, creating a ton of 1 copy enigmas.
