2 New Eggs First Time

Came home from work today and checked my lay boxes for eggs. This is my first time and am new at this. My lay boxes have peat moss in them. I dug my finger in gently and low and behold there was an egg. However I'm almost certain it turned a bit because I wasn't expected to find any. Is that egg doomed? Not dents at all nice and firm. I went looking for a second egg and found it but ensured that it stayed in the position I found it. What type of lay box substrate do you use and how deep? Let me know and is the first egg I found not going to hatch? Right now both are in the hovator at 82 degrees. In deli cups filled 2 thirds with Hatchrite. Eggs are three quarters covered.

i dont know much about incubating eggs except that at 82 degrees, you will probably get females. Also, egg rotation is not too big of a deal for the 1st 2 weeks, just try and put it the way you found it originally and dont touch it any more.

Do you know how long ago they were laid? Depending on how long they were in there and at what temps they may not be viable. Are they lay boxes directly over a heat source? Close? Far? Keeping them in the incubator is the best thing you can do.

I thought the first 24 hours was ok if it was flipped.

These two eggs were laid some time during the day. I couldn't tell you when though. I leave at 7am and don't get home until 6:30pm. I just got two more from my other female that are in the incubator now. The lay boxes are both over a heat source and under a red light. Temp was at 87-90degrees on that side. Eggs were buried nicely in the moist peat moss and are firm with no dents.

So any problems if they flip or turn the first 24 hours? Going to change my lay box media to something less sticky though that I don't have to sort of dig into the find the eggs.
