I have aquired several nice additions this year (Several from Pat at Luxurious Leopards, who is a fantactic, informative guy. Animals are really nice too!) and am looking for some input on breeding projects.

Here is what I have
1.4 SHTCT
1.2 Banded Tremper Tangerines Albino
1.0 Jungle Tremper Tangerine Albino
1.1 Raptors
0.1 APTOR Het RAPTOR
0.1 Jungle het RAPTOR
1.0 Super Snow Het Blizzard
0.2 Mack snows, 1 is het Blizzard, not sure which is the het
0.2 Super snows
1.0 SHTCT het Bell
0.4 Bell albinos

I know there is a lot to chew on here. Just looking for some good ideas.

The male RAPTOR will definitely be crossed with the female RAPTOR and the 2 hets for RAPTOR.

The male SS het will be crossed with the female SS's & Mack SS's females.

I may breed the RAPTOR male to one of the SS females. Not 100% sure of outcomes. (SS Raptor??)

I may or may not breed the SHTCT's?? Looks like interest has died out for these in our hobby. Same with the bells? Not sure if the interest is there.

Anyway, all suggestions are welcome.

Raptor X SS will give you all mack snow het raptors.

SS het bliz X SS will give you all SS 50% bliz and SS het bliz X mack het bliz will give you some SS and mack snow blizzards and the others will be 66% het bliz. Usually mack het bliz have speckling on them, but not always.

put the aptor to the male raptor too, split the female banded trempers between the jungle and banded males, or just put them to the raptor male also.

I agree about Pat's animals BTW ;)

There is still a market for Bells! And if you have nice SHTCTs then there will always be a market for them. Especially if you attend shows. They catch peoples eyes and with the price of them being not too high, people will be likely to buy them. Or you could just use it to increase the color into your RAPTOR line?

SHT Carrot Tails have not died out in the Leopard gecko bussines, and that is the #1 selling leopard gecko morph at reptile shows, i know From experience.

And the bells are really just starting to becoming popular, especially here on gecko forums. you could sell regular bell albinos at $40 bucks a pop on females easily!

Thanks for the input gang.

To increase color in Raptor line - SHTCT x RAPTOR would produce?

"Raptor X SS will give you all mack snow het raptors." - Would it be preferrable to take one female SS and breed to the RAPTOR? What are we going for here.

"split the female banded trempers between the jungle and banded males" OR "just put them to the raptor male also" - Same question.

These are the ideas I think would be interesting to bounce around.

Finally, I see on Tremper's site a "Super RAPTOR". Looks like it is a SS x RAPTOR. Must be more than only that?

Thanks fellas.... and ladies.

As always a fantastic site and always very informative!
I wish I had more time to read and/or participate.

SHTCT x RAPTOR would produce? SHTCT HET RAPTOR(ECLIPSE AND TREMPER)

"Raptor X SS will give you all mack snow het raptors." - Would it be preferrable to take one female SS and breed to the RAPTOR? What are we going for here.

MACK HET RAPTOR is what one would need to make mack raptor , mack eclipse, SS raptor, mack striped tremper het eclipse.....

http://www.amgecko.com/breeders_raptorsnow.html

"split the female banded trempers between the jungle and banded males" OR "just put them to the raptor male also" - Same question.

Well if you want a mix of banded, jungle, striped and so on, split the females between the male trempers. I you want tremper het raptors then mate one or both to the raptor.

Finally, I see on Tremper's site a "Super RAPTOR". Looks like it is a SS x RAPTOR. Must be more than only that?

SS raptor is a homozygous raptor and a homozygous MACK SNOW(SS) both being expressed at the same time. It takes a minimum of 2 years to make one, and the odds are very low to produce them, but obviously not unachievable in 2 years.

Paul,

I am going to do exactaly what you have suggested. Will post some pics when things start happening.

Last question.

What would you (Or anyone else out there) reccomend on the SHTCT's SHTCT x SHTCT -Vs- SHTCT x RAPTOR would produce? SHTCT HET RAPTOR(ECLIPSE AND TREMPER) ?

Thanks Again,

Tom

The best selling morphs are the brightly colored ones(SHTCT) and improving on the raptors with some nice tangerine is a trait that will seperate them from the average raptor(key word is AVERAGE). Obviously you'd need to hold back a few of the good ones to achieve the improve raptor, so that's a 2 year project. Both suggestion you make are worth pursuing for different reasons.

So when you say "Epclpse and Tremper" what do you mean.

Also. SHTCT het Raptors should be bred to each other OR back to the Parent.

Thanks Paul & group.

In essence a raptor is a patternless stripe(stripe and reverse stripe) that's a tremper albino and expressing the eclipse gene, so the offspring will hopefully be a SHTCT(maybe a HTCT) that's het raptor(tremper , stripe, reverse stripe and eclipse) The albino and eclipse are the mast important these days with people hatching banded, striped, reverse striped and jungle "raptors"

Breed the hets to eachother for SOME raptors and to the raptor for a better percentage of improved raptors.

Thank you Paul,

So in the second year a SHTCT or HTCT HEt RAPTOR x RAPTOR would yield. 50% RAPTOR, and ?

Thanks,

Tom

We are also mixing a SHTCTB into our future RAPTOR lines.

Paul- I thought a RAPTOR was essentially an Albino Elcipse, Carrot head, Carrot tail, patternless
