2008 GECKOFORUMS.NET CALDENDAR PHOTO CONTEST!!!

It's time for an 2008 GeckoForums.net calendar!!! Get your Leopard Gecko photos ready to submit! We will need 12 winning photos, one for each month of the year. Photos will remain the the copyrighted property of the photographer, and the finished calendar will be the copyrighted property of GeckoForums.net.

Here are the rules:

1. Only ONE photo per month/theme may be submitted per person/entry. Pick your best one for each category!

2. Photos must be submitted by posting them on this thread no later than November 1, 2007, and labeled with the month they are being entered for.

3. Photos MUST be formatted to a size of 8.5 x 11 inches (1275 H x 1650 W pixels) with a minimum of 150 resolution.

4. Original photos will need to be resized for posting here on this thread. The larger original (without watermarks or text) must be retained by the photographer for submission if it wins.

5. Photos submitted will be posted in a poll and voted on by the members of GeckoForums. The photos with the most votes for each month category wins!

6. Winners will receive a FREE GeckoForums.net finished calendar!

Is this going to be a Leopard Gecko specific calendar, or are other gecko species admissible?

This one will be a Leopard Gecko specific calendar, but it would be fun to do a general gecko calendar as well. I can only handle one calendar at a time, though! I have revised the rules in the first post to answer your questions.

sorry if I missed it but what are the categories for eacht month? or are they just 'january' 'february' etc?

We need a winning photo for each of the 12 months, ie: January, February, March... etc. Each person can only submit one photo entry for each month, up to 12 photos.

Am I correct in assuming that when we submit a photo, we need to announce which month we are submitting it for? <as opposed to submitting 1-12 photos and leaving it up to you to decide which month they'll compete for?>

Heh, smart guy! Well, I'm trying to save myself some of the 'complications' involved in putting the calendar together last year.

Marcia, Next year (2008) you can just have one comptition every month. And let the members vote. The winner in January will represent January in the coming calender. next month; February. The winner of February will represent February and so on.
You can decide themes too. In December the callender is complete.

GREAT idea, Lottiz!!!! That would keep the contest going all year long, and be less hectic for me to put the entire calendar together towards the end of the year. I like the idea... what do you guys think?

and for this coming year? we can submit only one pic each person, so will be not so long and difficult..and from november or december we can start with selection for 2009 calendar...

But...if we pick just one picture per person, then we have to decide month on our own...I mean, if i got a picture i want to use I also have to say; "This is for April". Maybe there will be 19 pics for April, non för February, May, August and 5 for September (just an example). That's complicated...

The easiest thing to do would be: Each and every month Marcia starts a new thread for THAT month. Everyone submits their photos within the (for example) 28 days. At the end of that month, every votes on the photo they would like to have in the calender.
