Hello.
I am a first-time Leo owner. I currently have a 3 month old Leo who I've had since he was 3 weeks old. Everything has been great the past few months. He has grown a ton, gone through several sheds, and was in the process of developing a nice, fat tail.
A week ago today was his last shed, and I noticed that he did not eat any of his shed. Previously, he had always eaten all of his shed. Ever since this last shed, he has not eaten anything at all! He was eating well every day. I feed him either small crickets or mealworms. I have been dusting with a vitamin supplement once a week and also with a calcium supplement (with D3) once or twice a week. He has a constant supply of calcium (without D3) in his tank at all times, in addition to two water dishes. I have no idea why he all of a sudden stopped eating. I have tried taking all of his hides away, and he still won't eat. I've filled his mealworm dish full of worms so he sees all of them wiggling around, and nothing. He used to wait for me around dusk every evening to feed him and would eat his food right up. Now, they crawl around right in front of him and nothing. I even tried waxworms to see if he'd take to those but nothing.
Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong or what I can do for him???
I have him housed in a 20L tank. He has three hides (a cool, a warm and a moist). He spends most of his time rotating between the warm and the moist hide. I have never used sand. I have reptile carpet in the tank currently. The cool side of his tank is right around 70 degrees, and the ambient air temperature on the warm side is usually between 78-80 degrees, and the floor temperature is usually around 88 degrees. He has an undertank heater and also a red heat incandescent bulb overhead. I have changed NOTHING in his environment since I've had him. At first I thought maybe he could be suffering from impaction, but I have no idea what could be causing an impaction. The only three scenarios I can think of are: 1.) he accidentally swallowed a piece of spaghnum moss when he was shedding in his moist hide 2.) we are in a really bad area of the country for seasonal allergies, so maybe he is sensitive to something in the air? 3.) something happened internally during his shed.
He is about 6 or 6.5 inches long from head to tail. Even though he hasn't eaten in his week, his tail is still kind of plumb and it's definitely a little larger than the width of his neck. I haven't noticed any mucus near his mouth, nose or eyes. His limbs look normal. He just won't eat and seems a bit more lethargic than normal.
Please help! Thank you!
