75 gallons TOO big for a crested?

I have been reading some about caring for crested geckos and it seems that perhaps bigger may not be better when it comes to housing them. I have a 75 gallon vivarium and I would love to have some crested geckos in it but I want to make sure it would not be too big. My questions are:

Why would it be too big if it is?

How many geckos could I have in an enclosure this size?

Any other issues I may face by using a large enclosure?

Here is a link to another similar thread but I figured I would start this one since it was a little more species specific. Thanks.

I would love to have a 75 gallon. I do not think there is a such thing as to big...expect for babies. For all adults I would need to look at the tank but I would guess 5-7 cresteds would fit no problem.. Problems I see with the tank would be eggs. I would guess its a fish tank with no glass doors? If that is the case getting those eggs out or just doing any maintenance on the tank would be a pain. What are the tank dimensions?

Ok I just looked at the other thread you had and saw pictures. I honestly would not put any cresteds in it 21 high (16 with substrate) is just not enough vertical room for them I would recommend some of the smaller leaf tails like satanics would be perfect in there.

Do you think it would work after adding more climbing branches/vines or just not at all due to lack of height? I have been thinking about building an enclosure this summer as well. I was going to do it for PDF's but I could easily do it for geckos which I think I am starting to find much more interesting. My home made enclosure I was planning to build was going to be something in the neighborhood of 48" wide, 24" front to back, and 36-48" high with front opening doors. I will also look in the satanics which I also like so if cresteds are determined to not be a good match for my current tank then no biggie.

Or I could possibly even build a 12-24" tall "hood" that would sit on top of the current tank. I could build it with a front opening plexi lid and that would give a lot more height, make it still easily accessible for cleaning and maintenance and I could also build in some nice ventilation to keep the air moving. Too many ideas, not enough money...lol

It sounds like you have a lot to work with. The idea of the hood on top of the 75 would be cool. The size tank you plan on building would be nice for some cresteds..But yeah even with more branches I just wouldn't do it they like to climb high. Santanics or semi arboreal from what I understand a little more pricey than most cresteds but sure are some sweet geckos.
