89 degree hot spot and the rest of the cage is about 82, i keep it at this temp during the winter to stimulate breeding, wondering if there is a better hot spot temp i should be using
I'm by no means the gecko guru, but 88 has been fine for mine for the past year. All are healthy, happy and are proud (well, I'm not so sure about that) new parents to two healthy hatchlings. P.S. 76 on the cool side. Bob
yeah that works, 88 is the lowest though, but a gecko can live healthy on 88 but some geckos do prefer higher temps, as for the cool side id try to keep it at 80 if not a little lower.
Don't forget about accuracy when measuring the hot spot. Some temp sensors have up to a 4 degree variance so a 90 could be anywhere from 86-94 degrees.
I also agree that those temps seem fine, though maybe a tad warm for the cool side, but great still. I just though I'd mention my female seems to hate temps above 90 lol. Most of the time she's either in the moist hide or in the hide that's barely near the heat mat (I'd say it's about 86 or so in that hide) even though there are two large hides on the heat mat that stay at 90-92 degrees depending on house temperature fluctuation (dad likes to play with the thermostat )
