A Few New Ones

It's amazing how quickly they can change. My wife Roxanne was looking thru this morning and saying "Whoa, look at this one", "Whoa, look at this one" . A bit overcast but we snapped a few pics anyway... First is a small Redstripe x SHTCT outcross that had black speckling that's turning orange. The second one is a seven week old tang that is the darkest orange one at that age so far this season - the head is much more intense than the tail. Next is Firewater #2 finally starting to kick in. Next is a small Redstripe / jubgle RW. Last are two that were small hatchlings but they're going great, a Rainglow and a hot little Redstripe looking good at 8 grams.

You've been asked several times to put a warning in the topic and I think this calls for a temporary ban. ;) :p Once again I'm in a state of shock! Those geckos are outrageous!

Dan, those are all nice. That RS is amazing.

Mike, if Dan posts it is just a natural reaction for me to grab the shades. I suggest that you all do the same. I refuse to be punished because you aren't prepared. So there will be no Banning. lol :main_cool3:

That girl may be hypermelanistic! I know...she's not black...but follow me here people. Maybe she has a high amount of dermal melanophores giving her a dark grey wash over her whole body (kinda like a midnight blizzard)...you can really see it in her tail. I'm thinking it must be the dermal melanophores because the epidurals form the spots which are seen in her tail. Layer orange on top of that and you get brown! (Try mixing paint....you'll see it's true)

Is her belly white? I can't tell from that shot, but even her toes are dark grey/black.

If you had a similar gecko with a similar amount of black pigment in the base, only it was a high yellow and not a tang, you'd end up with an olive green gecko! Oh...wouldn't that be something to see?

Those are just awsome, the amount of orange is unbelievable. You can send me a female any time you have excess :)
As for that brown one-definately cool. Have you considered working with Kelli on her dark gecko project to see what would happen crossing your's with some of her dark ones? Just a thought. Have you bred her at all?

Firewater #3 at 9 grams and a belly shot of Blackie next to a SHTCT.

Wow....Lot of coloration on the bottom of her tail! Those throat spots are cool too. Belly doesn't look white...maybe slightly orange? That's one different looking gecko for sure. Did you hatch her?

Here she is with a regular SHCT. She was bred with our ' 05 stud male and produces nice SHTs. Here's Stud Boy and one of Blackie's daughters. * We hatched her in '04 *

You weren't kidding when you said she produces nice SHT! I would breed back one of her male offspring to see if the chocolate effect (hypermelanistic?) is recessive. If it is, I would think you would be able to get a few babies that look like Mom (providing luck is with you).
