A few questions (WARNING: Alot of typing!)

ok just curious, during the cooler months, I have heard that the breeders let their temp go down. I let mine go sown at night to about 76-79 because if I leave the UTH on, I am gonna fry my gecko. The thermostat I have isn't working properly, so is isn't regulating the temp to where I want it. It will go between 90-92.7 if I have my fan on and the towel off the tank (I put it on at night to keep off the air from the airconditioner, as it is facing the tank) it will stay for about a half hour, then spike back up to the 95's. I know it isn't the thermostate, but could it be the UTH? I have had a different UTH, with a rheostat and a thermostat tried on it, but still no luck with regulation. I bought another UTH, but the thermostat is still not regulating the UTH. I don't know what it could be, as the previous UTH didn't regulate, even with me trying two regulators. The thermostat I had tried last, but when it didn't work, I took it back and bought another UTH, and the thermostat won't regulate it. I guess that is enough typing, huh? lol. So, what are your opinions on why the UTH isn't regulating, and if my nighttime temps are ok?

Thanks!
Emily

IMO you need to move the tank because a a/c fan is blowing on it. The thermostats and rheostats that you buy from the store are cheap and probably not capable of dealing with such a wide change in temps. I have to adjust mine 1-2 times a year for the cheap t-stats. The $150 t-stat that I use for my rack never needs adjusting.

The room temps naturally drop in the winter. This works most of the time for priming the geckos for breeding. The ground temps usually drop a little as well. Other than that, most breeders do not drop the temps at night in the summer time, it's not necessary.

The point is the A/C fan is most likely causing the problem. Move the tank and see if the problem still persist.

We are deciding if we are going to move my tank on to the other side of the book case. This is kinda what my room looks like now:
________[Tank______________
l _ l______l l__________l l <Bookcase
l l
l l <<AC / Window >>

l__________________________

The only thing that worries me is that the winow wall being close to the tank will mess up the temps in the wintertime. Any thoughts?

Srry the pic wont turn out right. I had to delete the other wall.

As long as the tank doesn't receive direct sunlight it will be fine. The slight temperature change that the window is going to provide will be nothing like the A/C fan. You might have to adjust the t-stat twice year because of that slight temp drop in the winter. But otherwise it won't be an issue. Hopefully it solves the one you are having now.
