I've been wanting to build a custom enclosure for the longest time but never had the money or time. Well now I have new job(yay for hospital benefits!) and I have weekends off. I stopped at Lowes today to look at different materials and I didn't have much luck.
Originally I wanted to build a fully custom enclosure for my three leopard geckos but then I would have three empty 20 gallon long tanks. To save some money and make things easier I'm looking at building a bookshelf type rack.
I found 4x8 sheets of 1/2" and 5/8" particle board and 1/4" plywood. Would particle board be better than plywood or vice versa? My main concern with the plywood was the glue separating over time from the heat.
Anyone have a suggestion for a brand of heat tape? I was hoping to get a few strips pre-wired so I could just hook it up to my thermostat.
