I would like to share what happened and see if any of you can think of any reason. I think they are taking it to the vet for a necropsy but well, in the meanwhile I would like to know if there's any common illness that could cause these symptoms.

I haven't seen the gecko with my own eyes so I can only say what the guy told me. When he called me, it was already dead. He said that the gecko had its lips red... I guess this is due to blood coming up to the mouth, but they weren't able to open the gecko's mouth so they weren't able to confirm it. He also said that he could see stains though its belly that didn't look like organs. They looked dark green and were quite big and clear - An internal hemorrhage? Its eyes were swollen too but I think that's more a consequence of feeling in pain than a symptom.

I thought it was a bad blow or fallen that caused damage to the lungs or stomach and hence the mouth bleeding. But the guy insists that there isn't anything where he could have fallen from in its tank. I can't think of any other causes, to tell the truth...

What I'm sure it's that it has been something sudden, not an illness that it had had to bear for some time or due to malpractice. I've seen recent photos from that gecko and looked healthy, and it also was famous for his voracious appetite, so I think that must have been something sudden like an embolism or a blow.
